The non-profit organization Amigos para la Conservación del Arrecife Cabo Pulmo (Friends of Cabo Pulmo Reef Conservation) is unique perhaps due to its conservation history worldwide. Founded by a family living across the northernmost reed in the Eastern Pacific for four generations , it is a place that stands out because of its beauty and biodiversity. The relationship between society and nature in this place has changed from generation to generation for more than seventy years: First, through a generation that relied entirely on direct utilization of fishing resources; second, with a gradual change from fishing towards tourism based on gazing at nature; and third, to a new generation of guardians recording an inventory of the ecosystem's recovery.

The project we conduct jointly with Amigos para la Conservación del Arrecife Cabo Pulmo consists of training and assessing new generations of local diving guides to record an inventory of the extraordinary recovery that the reef has experienced after 10 years of protection and custody by locals.
