Experiment's Network for Conservation

When we close our eyes and think about the ideal landscape of marine environments we envision coastal societies committed to a sustainable use of their surrounding environment. We see people thinking in the future who behave as stewards of the marine life. We imagine conscious societies who are sensible on the reliance of human quality of life upon biodiversity and are wise and well-informed connoisseurs of all the environmental benefits and services society receives from natural ecosystems.

COBI’s main task is to prove this in conjunction with rural fishing communities and bring the evidence to political negotiation tables so they become part of our country’s public policies. Through our programs we search for community partners to build a shared vision with coastal communities showing exceptional attitudes towards marine life’ conservation; who can enlighten us with their performance on how to establish a conservation and sustainable use relationship with nature. With each community we design, apply and evaluate social, economic or ecological paradigms that could shed light for a more sustainable and equitable use of natural resources.
